Easter week

This week we do not have class so we have the online meeting. We discuss deeply about our topic and decide what kind of research we need in the coming week. We find that the peer pressure will force the university student to spend money on their clothing. Also they will follow the celebrities’ step and wear the clothing of famous brands.I read the articles that my group mates have find. I find that the famous clothings have some same characters, like they are unique products in the market, they have different style and look that fit different kind of people. It is difficult to keeping cool in these day as everything is costly.

I find some t-shirt online shops on the internet and there are many designers submitted their work to sale. The price of the t-shirt is not expensive but customer enjoy to wear them. I think it is because those t-shirt are unique and have their own personalities(just like the characters of the famous brands). So, customer buy the products is mainly because the style of the product but not because of the price. Therefore, university student still can spend less but get what they want to wear.

This week we consult with Tania about our topic. We have told to do more research about the clothing(not only research about the t-shirt but also other products). Also, we have to think what are the things people like on their t-shirt as we are going to decide some stickers to put on the t-shirts.

I think we have to find are there any website is doing the same thing as us. So we can learn some experience from them in order to improve ourselves. We still have many things to find out and learn in this stage.

I am keep going on my research and find the detail of t-shirt and the money problem of the college student. I find that t-shirt have the function that express a message to the other. Also the logo on the t-shirt express the customers’ taste. That’s why university student like to spend most of the money on the famous brands. Are there any brands is inexpensive and famous? The price is also an important factor for the customer to think of in this century. Is that expensive clothes can attract more customer to buy?

I have the feeling that the fashion is infinite and changing all the time. But, money is finite or limited.

We discuss about the university student spend too much money on their cloths in order to have a new style for everyday and some of them do not have enough money to buy new cloths for themselves. We are looking for a way to save their money but make them also can have different styles of cloths to wear everyday. Many solutions come out immediately during the discussion. We found that university students usually wear t-shirt and everyone at least have one in their wardrobe. As T-shirt is unisex, no matter boys or girls they can all wear it, so we decide to do something with T-shirt.

In order to understand interaction design deeply, i read a book in the library which name is “One Show Interactive”. I choose the best show to read. It is the NEC ecotonoha project and it is a site to let people to write a message that will represent a leaf on a virtual tree. After a certain amount of messages have be submitted NEC will plant a real tree in Australia.

I like the graphic of the site and its interface is very simple and clear. I think user- friendly is an important element of a successful web site as people hate read too much and waste time on the internet. The NEC project inspire me some ideas about my group project. Maybe i can do a web site about tee and let people can participate in it.

What is interaction design? The simple description is the interaction between humans and the products. I am confused as i think the function of design is to communicate with human being. So what is the different between design and interaction design? I read the article which is written by Gillian Crampton Smith and i get a more detail and clear description from her. Interaction design is about shaping our everyday life through digital artifacts and it can be for work, for play or for entertainment.

Gillian’s article reminds me about an exhibition i visited last year. The Experimenta playground. It is an exhibition about media arts and there are many interesting design to let people play with. People can change the background of screen or produce sound by simple touching the screen or move their bodies. I think they are the things that called interaction design for play and entertainment.

i also read an article that is written by David Liddle. There are three stages of technology use and designers have to thinking about designing things that are right for people at the beginning rather than thinking about how to build it. Maybe it’s a good advise for me to start my group project.
